A Vincennes man was arrested over the weekend in Greene County following a trespassing investigation near the covered bridge on Baseline Road in Bloomfield.
On Saturday, October 25, deputies responded to a property owner’s complaint of individuals opening a gate and driving toward the White River. When officers arrived, they found two men on a sandbar. One of them, John Michael of Vincennes, fled into the river and was observed throwing items into the water.
Michael was apprehended and discovered to have active arrest warrants in Knox, Daviess, and Martin Counties.
The next day, deputies returned to the area and recovered a handgun from the river, which they believe Michael threw during his attempt to flee.
He was booked into the Greene County Jail on preliminary charges of carrying of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe, and resisting law enforcement.
