A Greene County man accused of killing his girlfriend and their 14-year-old son had his initial court hearing on Tuesday.
Thirty-five-year-old Joshua Penick appeared in Greene Circuit Court, where he and his attorney waived the formal reading of the charges.
Penick was informed of his rights and ordered held without bond.
He faces murder charges in connection with the deaths of Samantha Jerrell and their son, whose bodies were discovered last week at a coal mine site in Sullivan County.
Penick was arrested in Warrick County, and the investigation is ongoing, with multiple search warrants granted.
His preliminary pre-trial is scheduled for January 30th, with a trial set for April 15th, 2025.
