Crews working on the Washington Avenue project in Vincennes have made significant progress, according to the city’s latest update. Last week, workers completed the intermediate paving layers on the road approaches, laid a large section of sod, and finished the lighting foundations.

Concrete crews also advanced, pouring more sections of the sidewalk.

This week, the focus shifts to applying the surface layer and completing the remaining sidewalk installation, which is now nearly 90% complete. Afterward, crews will start pouring the curb ramps. The project is on track for completion and expected to open in early November.

Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum also shared what’s next on the city’s street paving agenda:

“Next year, we plan to install sidewalks on the north side of Hart Street. We’re also considering a project for Richard Bauer Drive, and we’re looking into adding walking paths or sidewalks in the area,” Yochum said. “We’ll also be paving Main Street between 6th and 7th next year.”
