The Vincennes University Board of Trustees has announced the retirement of long-serving Trustee Rick Schach, who has been on the board since 2005. Schach was recognized for his service during the board’s Oct. 7 meeting, with VU President Dr. Chuck Johnson presenting him a resolution of appreciation. Schach will remain on the board until a new trustee is appointed by Governor Eric Holcomb.
In other business, the board re-elected Mike Sievers as Chairman. Sievers has been on the board since 2006 and has served as Chairman since 2023.
The board also approved bids for a major addition to the Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy. Funded by a $4 million gift, the new gallery will honor Skelton and his widow Lothian. Construction will cost over $4.1 million.
Wolfe Construction, Vincennes, received the general construction contract. H.G. Heinz, Inc., Vincennes, received a contract for mechanical construction. Weyer Electric, Vincennes, received a contract for electrical construction.
The total cost of the museum addition is $4,148,544.
