A liquidation sale is underway at an area business that’s closing its doors after 8 decades of operation.

Smith Sales Inc.  in Lawrenceville announced in a press release it’s going out of business after 81 years of serving the community.

Jeff Smith, the current owner, says his grandfather founded the business in 1943.

Over the years, the store expanded, selling farm equipment, appliances, and furniture and had a location in Robinson which closed several years ago.

Jeff cites the pandemic, economic challenges, and changes in small-town America as reasons for the closure in Lawrenceville. The sale started on October 1st at their Lawrenceville location, with $500,000 in inventory being sold.
