Helping His Hands Disaster Response is preparing to assist flood and hurricane victims in the southern U.S. The organization is seeking donations of size 2 and size 5 diapers, wet wipes, toilet paper, and paper towels. Monetary donations are also needed to help cover fuel costs and other expenses.

Donations can be dropped off at their office, located at 2011 Willow Street, Suite B in Vincennes, until 4 PM today. After-hours drop-offs can be arranged by calling 812-494-2888.

CEO Jason Burkhart says the team plans to leave at 6 AM Wednesday morning, depending on road conditions and logistics. “We’re taking a full truckload, and we have at least one or two other volunteers hauling trucks behind. This will be our first response. If we gather enough supplies, we’ll make additional trips and respond with chainsaws, skids, and track hoes.”

Burkhart added that many people in the affected areas have lost everything. ” We know where we’re taking stuff for distribution centers and right now, helicopter drops are delivering supplies to those cut off from resources. They don’t have cell service or much left to their name.”
