Vincennes University’s annual Weenies on the Wabash event brought together students, faculty, advisors, and staff for an evening of food, fun, and prizes at Kimmell Park. The event serves as a vital opportunity for new students to get acclimated to college life and for returning students to reconnect with their peers and faculty members.

Curt Coffman, Dean of Science, Engineering, and Mathematics, emphasized the importance of building connections beyond the classroom. “They know the faculty in their classes, but there’s so many other people they can connect to. We see this as a really important way for students to feel like they’re part of the community.”

First-year Criminology student Katie McMichael echoed the sentiment, saying, “Honestly, I feel like without events, nobody would really get out to meet people.”

With VU welcoming its largest incoming class since 2021, Weenies on the Wabash provides a valuable space for students to bond and form lasting relationships, ensuring a more positive and connected college experience both mentally and academically.
