A new survey of 801 female registered voters in key battleground states reveals that women voters may not fully back Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the upcoming election.

In Indiana’s November 2020 presidential election, nearly 671,000 registered voters participated, with almost 63 percent being women.

Celinda Lake, president of Lake Research Partners, highlighted that clear policies on abortion and the economy, two critical issues for women, are not confined to one political party.

Lake noted, “In our latest research, there is a real opportunity among unmarried women younger than 55. This is a constituency that looks very Democratic, but often feels like the campaigns don’t speak to them, that they’re not in touch with their lives.”

The survey also identified an “enthusiasm” gap compared to previous elections, with only 59 percent of respondents feeling highly motivated to vote. Many of these women believe their voices and votes do not matter. The League of Women Voters’ Indiana chapter pointed out that candidates’ disengagement from voters’ concerns is a top reason for this lack of enthusiasm.
