An inmate’s death at the Knox County Jail remains under investigation.
On Friday at around 3:15-pm, 39-year-old Michael Oliver, who was being housed alone in a holding cell was found unresponsive. Jail officers performed CPR but he was later pronounced dead.
The Sheriff’s Department says the incident was turned over to Indiana State Police Detectives.
Jail logs show that Oliver was booked into jail on August 20th for Battery on a Public Official, Resisting Law Enforcement and Criminal Trespass. The alleged crimes occurred on May 3rd. Online court records indicate that a trial date had been set for October 1st.
