An Indiana Conservation Officer is being recognized after rescuing a woman from a house fire in Shoals.

On August 26th, ICO Kendrick Fuhrman was on patrol when he responded to a fire in the 800 block of High Street. Arriving quickly, Fuhrman learned from bystanders that people were still inside the burning home.

He entered the house and found a male and female occupant. The woman needed assistance, and Fuhrman, along with the man, helped her exit the home just before flames engulfed it. After ensuring their safety, Fuhrman assisted the Shoals Volunteer Fire Department in battling the blaze.

Other agencies responding included Medic One, the Martin County Sheriff’s Department, Duke Energy, and the Martin County Civil Defense Fire Department.
