Residents in Vincennes and surrounding areas are coping with another hot day, with a heat advisory in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. EDT. Heat index values could soar up to 105 degrees, and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management has declared an Air Quality Action Day until midnight, warning of unhealthy ozone levels for sensitive groups, including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions like asthma.
To help residents cope with the extreme heat, a cooling station has been set up at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, located at 925 Broadway Street. The station is open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and tomorrow, offering a temporary respite from the heat. It’s a walk-in facility, providing a cool place to stay for a short period, though no long-term relief, food, or refreshments are available on-site.
