It has been two months since ground was officially broken for AgroRenew, a new plant in the Knox County Industrial Park that will convert produce waste into biodegradable plastic.

Brian Southern, Founder and CEO of AgroRenew, provided a brief update at Monday’s Vincennes City Council meeting on the project’s progress since June. Southern explained that it took about two months to complete the title transfer on the property, ensuring everything was in order. He also reported that site surveys and core drilling have been completed, and work is now focused on topography and drainage, with plans to submit the necessary documentation to the drainage board soon. Additionally, all required permits have been filed with the state of Indiana.

Southern acknowledged the community’s eagerness to see construction begin, stating, “Every day that we’re not building a building like everybody in town wants to see is, you know, we feel that too. So we want it to get done as quickly as possible. We also want to do it right and we’re building the right kind of building and everything. So just so everybody knows it’s still progressing, it’s progressing as fast as it can.”

To conclude his update, Southern presented the mayor and city council with a shovel used during the June groundbreaking.
