After a brief cool spell, hot weather is making a comeback in this last week of August. Temperatures are rising significantly this week, bringing back the summer heat that had taken a short break.

Meteorologists say the region will see highs in 90s, up to near 100  Tuesday  with a heat index about 3 to 5 degrees above that. That’s a sharp contrast to the more pleasant weather experienced last week.  The return of the heat serves as a reminder that summer isn’t over yet.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against the heat, especially during peak afternoon hours.

Local officials also remind everyone to check on vulnerable individuals, such as the elderly and those without air conditioning, as temperatures climb.

As the week progresses there is a 20 percent chance of rain Wednesday and a 30 percent chance as we get into the Labor Day Weekend.
