The Knox County Library Board is continuing their commitment to join the State Library Consortium for Public Library Internet Access. Library Director Emily Bunyon told First City News the decision will significantly reduce the cost the library pays for public internet access.
By joining the consortium, the Knox County Library aims to enhance its digital services while maintaining budget efficiency. The partnership allows the library to tap into state resources, ensuring more reliable and cost-effective internet services for its patrons. This move is part of the library’s ongoing efforts to provide better access to information and resources for the community.
Without the discount, the library would pay $35,808 in 2024 for public internet access. The library will pay$8,952 with the 80% discount rate for E-Rate funding.
Bunyon also tells us that on Tuesday at the boards’ regular meeting, restoration projects for the McGrady-Brockman and Meeting Houses were approved.
Fall work will include include new siding for the McGrady-Brockman House and window replacements and roof repair for the meeting house.
The total cost is $137,942 and will be completed by Wolfe Construction.
