Vincennes University is bustling with activity as students return and settle into their dorms and housing for the start of the new academic year. Classes are set to begin on Monday, and this year has been designated by university officials as the “Year of Listening.”

VU President Dr. Chuck Johnson announced this year’s theme, focusing on the importance of understanding and addressing the needs of the entire campus community. He emphasized the university’s dedication to strengthening its culture of care and providing enhanced support to both students and staff.

Throughout the year, Dr. Johnson and the VU Executive Team plan to hold listening sessions across the university to gather valuable input from faculty, staff, and students. The aim is to ensure that Vincennes University remains responsive to the evolving needs of its community and continues to build strong relationships.

As the academic year kicks off, local drivers and residents are urged to stay vigilant due to the increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the campus, particularly along 2nd Street. The speed limit on 2nd Street is 20 miles per hour, and extra caution is advised near the Wathen Business Building and Davis Hall, where construction crews are actively working on several projects.
