steak-and-shake-closed

There is still  no official word why Steak ‘n Shake in Vincennes has closed.

Reports say employees were notified this past Sunday and patrons found a sign on the doors this week notifying the public that the restaurant has shut down permanently.

The closing follows a trend that’s been happening to the chain for the last several years.

According to the thetakeout.com, Steak ‘N Shake initially closed more than 100 locations in 2019, and there were only 506 locations open in 2023. At the end of last year, the brand had only 148 corporate-run locations, 17 of which were temporarily closed.

Steak ‘n Shake opened its Vincennes location on Hart Street Road in November 2014. The restaurant quickly became a popular spot for locals, especially during its initial weeks.

The Vincennes location offered a traditional full-service dining experience, which was later shifted to a quick-serve format in 2021 due to changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The closing comes just shy of a decade in business, leaving many residents surprised and disappointed.
