Contractors are working diligently to finish the Lester Square Skatepark renovation….

That’s Vincennes Parks and Recreation Superintendent JR Field.

Work started about two months ago on replacing the former delapitated particle board and metal skating surface with concrete.

The work including a new design is being done by Hunger Skatepark Design and Construction based in Bloomington.

Alex Vasquez has been working for Hunger Skateparks for over a dozen years.

Fields says they’ve created a totally different configuration…

Field says they’ve had to ask some skaters to not use the facility as there is still work to be done and construction equipment and materials on site.

Again he assured us that as soon as the final touches are finished the park will be open to skaters and then that grand opening will be scheduled and again that’s tentatively expected by the middle of this month.

After the skatepark is completed, the process will start to replace the basketball court at Lester Square Park.  The current one will be replaced by two brand new courts.
