Vincennes Police have released a little more information on the Autumn Ridge shooting from last week.
Police were called to the area at 5:30pm on July 22nd, learning that someone had been brought to Good Samaritan Hospital with a gunshot wound.
The investigation revealed that two male suspects exited a vehicle driven by a female. The two males were said to have fired multiple rounds into another vehicle.
The targeted vehicle had three adults and two juveniles, including an infant. An adult male passenger was struck in the head and required surgery in Evansville. The victim’s name has not been released.
The next day, the female driver, 23-year-old Madalyn Dennis, was arrested in Lawrence County, Illinois. She’s charged with Attempted Murder. Her initial hearing was scheduled for today.
Then on the next day July 24th, 18 year old Calvin Wittmer was arrested after killing a person in an unrelated shooting on 14th Street in Vincennes. He’s charged with Murder in that case.
Police say they identified Wittmer as one of the shooters in the Autumn Ridge incident. He’s now charged with five counts of Attempted Murder in that shooting.
The 2nd Autumn Ridge shooter, 19-year-old Kyvon A. Ahmed, has also been arrested for the July 22nd shooting and is also facing five counts of Attempted Murder.
Vincennes Police gave thanks to the courts, prosecutors office, the Knox County High Tech Crime Unit, State Police, the Federal Marshal’s task force, the Knox County Sheriff’s Department, Lawrence County, Illinois Sheriff’s Department, Vincennes University Police and the Lawrenceville and Sumner, Illinois Police Departments for their assistance in the investigation.
VPD also thanks the citizens who called in with information on the two incidents.
Dennis appeared in court on Tuesday for an initial hearing.
The court appointed her a public defender and set at trial date for October 22nd.
