A significant milestone has been achieved this week in the ongoing Washington Avenue project.
Vincennes officials report that base asphalt has now been installed from Emison Avenue to the bridge over Kelso Creek.
While the progress marks a major step forward, it’s important to note that the road remains closed to traffic.
Construction equipment is strategically parked to prevent vehicles from passing through the job site, ensuring safety for both the workers and the public.
In the coming week, a sub-contractor will arrive to slip-form the curb and gutter throughout the entire project area. This crucial task is expected to take up to three days. Once the curb and gutter installation is complete, crews from Kern’s Excavating will move in to begin the installation of driveways, bringing the project another step closer to completion.
Despite the extensive work still ahead, the project remains on schedule for its anticipated November completion. Residents and commuters are reminded to continue observing road closures and detours for their safety and the safety of the construction teams.
The Mayor’s office and city departments working on the project thank the public for their continued patience and cooperation as they continue to work towards improving the community’s infrastructure.
