The Shake Library at Vincennes University is one of 50 U.S. libraries selected to host the traveling exhibition “Americans and the Holocaust.” The exhibition, organized by the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum and the American Library Association, explores Americans’ responses to Nazism, war, and genocide in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s.

The exhibition will be on display from March 17 to April 28, 2025. VU’s Director of Library Services, Charla Gilbert, expressed pride in being chosen and invited the community to join in this journey of remembrance and reflection.

The 1,100-square-foot exhibit draws on primary sources from the era, examining American society’s varied responses to the Holocaust. A keynote presentation, “Echoes from Auschwitz: The Story of Eva Mozes Kor” by Trent Andrews from the CANDLES Holocaust Museum, is scheduled for March 27, 2025.

The Shake Library also received a $3,000 grant to support public programs related to the exhibition. For more information, visit https://vinu.libguides.com/shakelibrary.
