Vincennes University celebrated the grand opening of the VU Design and Innovation Training Studio on Tuesday.
The new facility in the Summers Center on the VU campus is funded by the Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Charting the Future Initiative and aims to boost STEM education in Indiana.
VU President Dr. Chuck Johnson emphasized the studio’s role in addressing the need for high-quality STEM education and preparing students for Industry 4.0 careers.
The studio is part of a broader effort to establish 101 Design and Innovation Studios across the state, impacting over 15,000 students annually.
Significant partners include Purdue University IN-MaC and Toyota Indiana. Toyota Indiana President Tim Hollander highlighted the importance of investing in STEM education to develop a skilled workforce.
The studio will support VU’s Education programs, providing hands-on experiences for future educators.
Dean Dr. Cynthia Ragle noted its role in preparing teachers for evolving technological landscapes. The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured speeches from key partners and tours of the new facility.
This initiative underscores VU’s commitment to STEM education and economic development in Southwest Indiana.
