A former cast member of the Red Skelton show is visiting Vincennes for the first time.

Maureen Gaffney Wolfson worked on the Red Skelton Show from 1964 to 1968 and is in town for the very first Red Skelton Comedy Convention, formerly the Red Skelton Festival.

She worked as an actress and model which helped her land her stint on the sketch comedy show hosted and starring Red Skelton of Vincennes.

For the last 60 years she has been a painter and credits Skelton with helping find her way artistically:  She calls him an inspiration, a mentor, and special friend.

She has an exhibit on display at the Open Gallery on Main Street this month called “A Repertoire of Red, From Clowns to Cosmos: Reflections on a Lifelong Friendship.”

Wolfson was at the Open Gallery Tuesday for a “Meet the Artist Event”

Her art will be at the Open Gallery through July 31st.

In addition she will be at the Red Skelton Museum for opening night of the Comedy Convention Thursday at 6-pm for an artist reception.

On Saturday at 3-pm she will be at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Theatre sharing stories from the Red Skelton Show.
