The Open Gallery in downtown Vincennes is hosting Maureen Gaffney Wolfson for the month of July.
Her art exhibition coincides with the Inaugural Red Skelton Weekend Comedy Convention at the Red Skelton Museum which starts this Thursday.
A special “Meet the Artist” event is set for this evening at 6:30 at the Gallery. Wolfson was not able to attend the First Friday Art Walk event earlier this month so is appearing this evening to discuss her artwork and creative process.
Wolfson is a former actress and model and starred in the Red Skelton Television Show for over six years, where she performed sketch comedy.
She says fondly remembers Skelton as a mentor and friend who significantly influenced her artistic journey.
Now approaching her 82nd birthday, Wolfson has been painting for 60 years. Her exhibition, titled “A Repertoire of Red, from Clowns to Cosmos: Reflections on a Lifelong Friendship,” showcases prints of Red Skelton’s sketch characters, as well as serene landscapes and garden scenes.
The show runs through the end of the month.
Again Wolfson is scheduled to be at the Open Gallery at 6:30 this evening. The gallery is located at 329 Main in Vincennes.
