City officials reported progress on the Washington Avenue Project on Monday.

They say cement stabilization was successfully completed last week after rain delays pushed the work back until last Thursday.

Despite the long day, the crews finished the job, and the results were described as looking great.

The next step involves letting the subgrade cure for a week. Asphalt crews are scheduled to arrive next week to lay the first base layer of asphalt.

Once that layer is down, it will allow for parallel work on curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and driveways. The project remains on schedule for a November completion.”

In other news, concerning Community Crossing Matching Grant projects, the pavement marking crews are working on Hart Street and Kimmell Road to finish the markings.

Additionally, signal crews will be on site this week to install loop detectors at the signals and reprogram them to normal operation.
