It’s just 8 days until Red Skelton’s birthday.
July 18th marks the 101st anniversary of the birth of one of Vincennes’ favorite sons.
Every year in July there is a Red Skelton Festival and this year that has morphed into the Red Skelton Comedy Convention.
Anne Pratt is Executive Director of the Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy and tells us why they made a change…
The convention runs July 18th through the 20th with a plethora of activities and events celebrating Red’s life and legacy.
That’s Olivia Woreland with the Vincennes/Knox County Visitor’s Bureau.
One of the highlights of the convention will be an art exhibition from Maureen Gaffney–Wolfson.
For 60 years she has worked as a model, actress, singer, and dancer to a world renowned painter.
She was a cast member on the Red Skelton Television show.
Throughout the convention an exhibition of her work called “A Repertoire of Red: From Clowns to Cosmos”Reflections on a Lifelong Friendship will be on display at the Red Skelton Museum.
An artist reception is next Thursday from 5 to 6:30-pm at the museum.
Meanwhile, the exhibit is at the Open Gallery on Main in Vincennes now through July 30th.
A reception at that museum is Tuesday July 16th at 6:30pm.
