It’s described as the “messiest event in Knox County”.

The Knox County Parks and Recreation Department hosted Mud Day on Saturday.

It was held at Wabash Trails Park.

Kids ages 12 and under participated in a variety of mud activities like mud pools, slides, and mud art.   There was even a mud kitchen.

It was all in celebration of International Mud Day which started in 2009 at a World Forum event.

It was conceived by two residents of Australia and Nepal as a way to help children feel closer to each and encourage feelings of community and appreciation for the world around us by getting closer to the earth.

Local kids had a great time at Mud Day and the Vincennes Township Fire Department was there with there firehose to get the kids cleaned up when the day was over.
