The April 8th total solar eclipse resulted in a $148.5 million total economic impact.

That’s according to a new study from the Indiana Destination Development Corporation.

The study was conducted by Rockport Analytics which reported there was an estimated 3.5 million visitors to the state.

Those visits resulted in an over 40% boost in regular visitor spending.

Recreation and entertainment purchases accounted for most of the spending, totaling $65 million.

The taxes generated from money spent on food, lodging, recreation, transportation and retail were said to have been $45 million.

Indiana experienced 100 to 90 percent totality and was a prime destination for the eclipse.
