There’s a new attraction in Oaktown.
On Friday, the annual Old Oaken Days celebration began with a dedication of the town’s new pavilion.
President of the Oaktown Town Council, Stan Hobbs, says it will serve the community in a variety of ways like weddings and other special occasions and of course for the town’s annual June festival.
Hobbs also hopes the pavillion and area will become the site of a future vendors’ market.
Construction began in late February and ended about three weeks ago.
The construction was paid for entirely by donations and Hobbs says the timing just worked out for the structure to be dedicated during the annual festival.
The facility will be free to use for any resident of Oaktown or Busseron Township.
