It’s Juneteenth National Independence Day, it’s a federal holiday in the United States.
It is celebrated annually on June 19 to commemorate the ending of slavery in the United States.
Some local activities have been happening this week in honor of the day.
At the Knox County Public Library a traveling exhibit from the Indiana Historical Society called “Groundbreaking Black Hoosiers” is on display.
