Active Shooter Training is happening this week on the Vincennes University campus.

The training started Tuesday at the Homeland Security Building on East Saint Claire.

Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) is providing its Active Shooter Threat Training Program (ASTTP) to several of the Vincennes University Police Officers, along with various officers from other agencies locally and across the State of Indiana today through Friday from about 7am to 6-pm each day.

V-U Police Chief Adam Daugherty says the intensive training is challenging and prepares law enforcement with hands-on interactive drills and scenario based training.

Several VU main campus buildings are being used and there’s no entrance to those buildings during operations.

There will be signage on the buildings indicating training in progress.

Chief Daugherty says some simulated gunfire might be heard during the operations and people on campus may witness groups carrying firearms from one building to another.

A schedule of the training times and sites is listed below.
