A traveling exhibit on Black history will make a stop in Vincennes this month.

The Knox County Public Library and the Black History Preservation Project of Knox County invite visitors to explore the stories of Black Hoosiers who broke ground for their community and paved a path for future generations.

The exhibit is called “Groundbreaking Black Hoosiers,” and will be open to the public from Saturday, June 15 until Thursday July 11, at the Knox Public Library on North 7th.

Some of those highlighted in the exhbit include: historian, Wilma Gibbs Moore ; Mary Bateman Clark who sued for freedom from indentured servitude ; successful business woman Madam C.J. Walker; World War 1 Veteran 2nd Lt. Aaron R. Risher;  Dr. Henry Hummons;  and architect William Wilson Cooke.

An opening reception for the exhibit is Monday June 17th at 5:30-pm.
