For the first time ever the U-S Olympic Swim Trials are being staged on a football field.

The trials will serve as the sole selection meet for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Swimming Team, which will represent Team USA in the pool competition in Paris, France.

That meet on opening night June 15th will break the world record for the largest swim meet ever hosted.

Sam Reel with the Indiana Sports Corp says the idea to bring the trials to Lucas Stadium started during COVID…

A bid was put together and accepted by USA Swimming and the plans were put in place to host the trials.

Three separate pools have been built and were recently unveiled.  They hold two million gallons of water on top of the Lucas Oil Field.

Seating at the trials will be different from what you may have experienced at a ball game…

This is the latest chapter in Indy’s history with swimming.

In 2000 the city hosted the 2000 Olympic Trials at the I-U Natatorim

Olympic Swim Trials were also held a century ago in the state’s capital when the 1924 Olympics were held in Paris, just like they will be this year.

Swimming is not the only thing happening in regards to the trials as the Indiana Sports Corp works to inspire economic growth, legacy opportunities and youth impact.

Tickets are currently on sale for the trial which again begin on June 15th.
