Favorable planting conditions allowed corn and soybean planting progress to continue ahead of their respective five-year averages.

The weekly Indiana Crop Report from the U-S-D-A ending June 2nd also reported that  fields remain unplanted, as intermittent precipitation made planting difficult on bottom ground and in clay soils.

Meanwhile, winter wheat headed neared completion and its condition was stable, but growers remained concerned about wet field conditions precipitating disease.

The report says livestock enjoyed thriving pasture conditions with 77 percent of pastures rated in good to excellent condition.

Hay cutting progressed slightly ahead of schedule compared to previous years.
