Road construction season in full swing.

The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced several main highway closings or lane closures that are scheduled to take effect on Monday June 3rd in Knox and surrounding counties.

Among them is State Road 59 in Sandborn. INDOT says alternating lane closures will be implemented for ADA ramp replacement through the town. Work will take two months to complete and traffic will be controlled by a flagger.

In Daviess County, State Road 358 near Elnora will close between Highways 57 and 58. That work involves paving operations and will last for a month.

In Pike County on Monday, State Road 61 just south of the I69 interchange south of Petersburg will close for crews to perform a vertical curve correction.  Work on that project is expected to last through mid-July, depending on the weather.  The official detour uses Highways 56, 57 and 257. Local traffic will have access up to the point of closure.

Speaking of 257 in Pike County, a section near Highway 356 will close for one day starting Monday so workers can replace a culvert.

Then on Tuesday, another culvert will be replaced on 257 between Pike County Roads East 500-North and 500-South. That will take one day to complete.

The official detour for both of those projects on 257 utilizes U-S 50 and Highways 57 and 356.

All of the work is again, dependent upon the weather.

INDOT urges drivers to use extra caution when driving near highway construction crews.
