Kids of all ages enjoyed some fun and food at the Family Health Center on Thursday.

The facility on Willow Street hosted their 3rd annual Knox County Children’s Mental Health Fair.

Attendees played games, participated in face painting and a chalk walk and watched some educational demonstrations.

According to the Indiana Youth Institute, Indiana has the 10th worst rate nationally for children at risk of depression and one in six high school students has seriously considered suicide.

Knox County is home to several agencies that can help children and work to lower those stats.

Miranda Knepp is a Prevention Specialist at the Family Health Center and says Thursday’s gathering puts those facilities in one place in a fun and family oriented setting…

Organizations that were there included PACE, the YMCA, the United Way of Knox County, and the Wabash Valley Friendship Clubhouse.

Organizers say those partner organizations can provide help that the Family Health Center wouldn’t be able to.

The free event was funded by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction.
