Multiple animal shelters are joining forces this week to get their animals adopted.

The Vincennes Animal Shelter along with shelters and humane societies in Daviess, Greene, Sullivan, Parke and Vermillion counties are combining their resources and hosting the first ever Southern Indiana Mega Adoption event on Saturday.

Vincennes Animal Shelter Director Leah Reagan it’s all an effort to make the region aware of how many dogs and cats are in the shelters in addition to an opportunity for area residents to make a new furry friend and give them a forever home….

Reagan says another goal they have is to get people who are still deciding whether or not to be a pet owner, to think of adoption as opposed to purchasing a dog or cat.

Same day approved adoptions for dogs and cats and reduced adoption fees are being offered as an incentive to try and empty the shelters.

The Southern Indiana Mega Adoption Event is being held at the Sullivan, Indiana 4-H grounds starting at 10-am on Saturday

The grounds are located at 131 East County road 75 north in Sullivan.
