The YMCA of Vincennes received a $25,000 check from the Vincennes Rotary on Thursday.
The funds will go toward the over $2 million capital improvement project that entails major renovations to several areas of the Y.
Currently phase 1 is continuing which is turning a portion of the building into the new Little Alice Learning Center pre-school which opens in August.
Phase 2 is just getting underway and consists of an overhaul to the gymnastics area which will be a multi purpose room for several different sports.
Plans are for the lobby to undergo major changes as well.
Through civic, business and individual donations and some help from local government, the YMCA has about half of the funds for all of the work which officials would like to have completed in around 18 months.
Speaking of the facility’s importance , YMCA of Vincennes CEO Dennis Kordes invites any and all to contact the Y to find out how they can become involved in what has become a “hub” in the community.
