state-of-education

How a community can effect education and how education affects a community was just part of the discussion at a special program on Wednesday.

School Superintendents from Vincennes Community and North Knox Schools spoke at the monthly Chamber Lunch as part of the Chamber’s “State of…” series.

Dr. Darryl Bobe of North Knox and  Greg Parsley from Vincennes Community Schools talked about current programming they provide as well as future plans.

Both gave thanks to Vincennes University for early college partnerships allowing high school students to graduate with a VU Associates Degree in their chosen field.

Dr. Parsley talked about what the local business community can do to help the schools’ continuing mission of getting students ready for the next steps after graduation….

Dr. Bobe answered questions on this year’s Indiana General Assembly session and how the current legislature seems more focused on higher education rather than K thru 12.

Bobe says that’s likely because of the increasing cost of going to college…

The State of Education Program is sponsored in part by Vincennes PBS .
